The National Monuments Service's description

In pasture, on gentle N-facing slope, overlooking Blackwater River. Circular area (30m N-S; 28.45m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 1.3m). Gap (Wth 1.9m) in bank to ESE. Interior and bank partially overgrown with trees. According to Broker (1937, 50) 'in fort field', enclosed by 'double fence. Partially levelled'. Shown as univallate circular enclosure on 1842, 1904 and 1938 OS 6-inch maps. One of three ringforts (8555; 8556) in E-W line, to S of river.
