The National Monuments Service's description

In nearly level pasture, in N half of early ecclesiastical enclosure (CO038-00203-). Circular area (35.4m N-S; 35.5m E-W) defined by grass-covered earthen bank, containing some stones (int. H 0.7m; ext. H 0.85m), except to S where levelled for c. 25m. Shallow external fosse to SE and W. Interior surface uneven; rock outcrop visible in NE quadrant. Bowman (1934, 666) refers to site as 'church site and burial ground on the northern end of...fort' (early ecclesiastical enclosure); locally called 'An Cillin' - the little church; 'about five-sixths' of enclosing bank survives; interior c. 3ft higher than level of surrounding 'fort'.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
