The National Monuments Service's description
Shown on 1842 OS 6-inch map as subrectangular area (c. 35m E-W; c. 30m N-S) defined by broken line and named 'Old Grave Yard'; named 'Grave Yd. (Disused)' on 1905 OS 6-inch map. In pasture, on N-facing slope. Roughly rectangular area (36m E-W; 30m N-S) enclosed by trees. No grave markers noted but ground surface is noticeably stony. Probably site of Chapel of Ease to Litter (14471) which, according to Power (1932, 76), stood in a 'cillin...about an acre in area and marked by five old oak trees in the centre of field; he adds that the 'cillin area has been gradually encroached on by tillage; it still, however, retains its circular outline'.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
