The National Monuments Service's description
In mature forest known as Philip's Wood, on NNE-facing slope. Circular area (38m E-W; 36m N-S) enclosed by two earthen banks with deep intervening fosse; external fosse (D 0.7m) E->WNW. Inner bank (int. H 1.7m; ext. H 2.7m) stone-faced (H 1m) internally along W quadrant; outer bank H 0.5m. Entrance to N through inner (/wth 3.4m) and through outer (Wth 4.2m) bank. Both banks disturbed to E due to quarrying which continues to a deep depression in area of intervening fosse, flanked on N side by large mound of debris. Interior slopes down gently to N; raised on NNE side to compensate for hillslope; souterrain (CO034-04002-) in S quadrant. Banks, fosses and interior planted with coniferous trees.
