The National Monuments Service's description

Forming NW corner of graveyard (14568). Ruin of rectangular church (int. 23.1m E-W; int. 7.25m N-S), built of limestone rubble. Walls stand to full height, covered with overgrowth. Church entered through doorway (Wth 1.04m) W-of-centre in S wall: embrasure covered by segmental arch; limestone door surround has chamfered edge and pointed arch. East gable has central window: splayed and lintelled embrasure; double ogee-headed light, missing its mullion. South wall has narrow window, in splayed and lintelled embrasure with single flat-headed light, close to E end. At W end of S wall is small wall press; broken gap (L c. 3.6m) E of centre; W end unstable and beginning to fall away to S. North wall has two splayed and lintelled window embrasures, both missing their light: at centre, and near E end. West gable stands atop vertical rock face; splayed and lintelled window embrasure, with single rectangular light, set high up in centre of gable. Remains of parish church of Ballyhooly; late-medieval in appearance. Reported as abandoned in 1694 (Brady 1863, vol. 2, 44). A church here listed in Papal Taxation of 1291 (ibid., 43).
