The National Monuments Service's description

Ruined 2-storey early-19th century house, overlooking River Blackwater to S. Designed by James Pain (Bence-Jones 1978, 89). Roof originally hipped with plaster cornice and pediment. Entrance front (E) of 7-bays: central semicircular porch with round-headed opes; central tripartite windows on 1st floor. Brick-dressed window opes throughout with plaster surrounds. View front (S) of 4 bays, with pedimented door ope. Elevation prolonged to W by 9-bay, 2-storey wing with plaster Doric pilasters at regular intervals. Two-storey range of farm buildings prolongs elevation further to W. North elevation of 7 bays with 3-bay central breakfront; elevation prolonged to W by lower 2-storey, 7-bay extension. Rear elevation partially collapsed; enclosed courtyard to rear. House burnt in 1922. Fine range of farm buildings around courtyard attached to W end of house, clock in tower atop E range. Second set of farm buildings around courtyard to NW with dates tone "1838"; 2-storey gardener's house attached to NW. Two-storey steward's house (occupied) to W. Ornate small square 'tea house' to S of house with brick arcaded retaining wall for tennis court adjacent. Ice house (14962) c. 100m to S.
