The National Monuments Service's description

Slight rise in centre of graveyard (14609) may mark site of parish church of Monanimy. In 1615 reported that nave 'in repair', chancel 'de-roofed' (Brady 1863, vol. 2, 356); described by Smith (1750, vol. 1, 347) as 'ruined...with a large chancel'; Power (1932, 110) noted only 'foundation traces'. A church here listed in Papal Taxation of 1291 (Brady ibid.).

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
