The National Monuments Service's description

In gently undulating pasture, within the present deer-park of Mallow Castle (CO033-009002-). An aerial photograph (CASAP) shows a rectilinear system of low earthwork banks covering an area (c. 120m E-W; c. 90m N-S) immediately E of the 19th-century country house. This system is not shown on the 1842 OS 6-inch map and is terminated on its W side by a ha ha and on its N side by a demesne field boundary. It may be the remains of garden enclosures or small fields associated with the fortified house (CO033-009001-) which lies immediately to the SW. Access to the deer-park was not gained.

The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009).
