The National Monuments Service's description

Partially collapsed tower atop hill, on NW side of enclosure (14955), in demesne of Woodfort House (14905). Indicated on 1842 OS 6-inch map as 'Turret'. Roofless remains of square (int: 5.55m N-S; 5.58m E-W) 2-storey structure built of random-rubble stone construction with some brick. Possible door ope in E elevation, with window ope on 1st floor blocked with brick. South elevation survives to full height with central window on each floor. West elevation collapsed. Two small opes on ground floor of N elevation, large central window ope on 1st floor. Smith (1750, vol. 1, 301) refers to it as 'a turret...with a luxurious prospect of a great tract of country'.
