The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture, just below top of hill on NE-facing slope, overlooking River Blackwater. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 40m) on 1842 and 1905 OS 6-inch maps; as hachured circular raised area (diam. c. 30m) surrounded by fosse to S, W and N on 1936 OS 6-inch map. According to local information, levelled c. 1954. Circular, saucer-shaped area (diam. 36m) defined by low rise with shallow external depression. Probably double-ramparted fort (diam. c. 30yd) recorded by Bowman (1934, 584) on Mrs. Breen's land; inner rampart c. 10ft higher than interior; intervening fosse (Wth c. 12ft); one-quarter of outer rampart remained (H c. 2ft). Circular enclosure visible in aerial photograph (GSIAP; W388) as cropmark of fosse with second fosse visible on W side.
