The National Monuments Service's description

Built against natural slope, indicated on 1842 OS 6-inch map in quarry. Random-rubble walls encase earthen core. Front elevation (H 4.5m; Wth 4.8m) faces N; arched recess (H 2.4m; Wth 2.5m; D c. 2.8m) with lower inner arch, sloping slabs at rear with stoking hole (0.15m x 0.15m), rectangular ope (H 0.4m; Wth 0.34m) at base. Top of kiln (5m N-S; 4.5m E-W) enclosed by low walls on three sides, position of infilled funnel indicated by depression.
