The National Monuments Service's description
Built against natural slope in NE corner of farmyard. Indicated as rectangular structure on 1842 OS 6-inch map. Random-rubble front elevation (H c. 5m; Wth 8.35m) faces S, retains earthen core; pair of stone-arched recesses with ledge overhead. West recess (H 2.52m; Wth 2.4m; D 3.17m) has sloping slabs at rear with stoking hole (0.18m x 0.12m); base filled with collapsed core material. Recess had low gabled structure built in front of it, now removed. Second overgrown recess (Wth 2.36m; D c. 3m) to E, sloping slab visible to rear; depression (1.1m x 1.2m; D 0.8m) cut into bedrock in floor of recess contains water, possibly a spring. Ramp removed at rear of kiln (11m N-S; 9m E-W); funnel area inaccessible due to overgrowth. Only W side of kiln indicated on 1904 OS 6-inch map.
