Within the historic town (CO027-042----) of Glanworth, to the SW of 'Rock Abbey' (CO027-040----). Six medieval pits were excavated in advance of a housing development in Boherash townland in 2004. One of the pits was only partially excavated. All the pits were situated in trench 4. The pits ranged in diameter from 1.14 to 2.75m and in depth from 0.28 to 1.86m and varied in plan from irregular to subcircular. One of three pits situated on the E side of trench 4 produced a sherd of late 13th/14-century Cork-type pottery. Another of these pits contained a medieval mortar stone fragment and a quern stone. The third and later pit cut into the latter two pits. A D-shaped pit cut into and post-dated the infill of a linear ditch-like feature (CO027-202----). Finds in this pit included sherds of Cork-type pottery, Saintonge green-glazed pottery and Merida-type pottery. Two pits located on the SW side of the trench were probably medieval in date. A stake-hole driven into the S side of one of these pits included Cork-type pottery in the fill. (Cleary 2006a; 2007, 87-126)
