The National Monuments Service's description

Remains of frontal support beam for two-flume mill unearthed during drainage operations in early 1970s, c. 150m N of River Funshion. Investigated by C. Rynne (1988, 324-5) in 1983 when possible remains of low dams were identified. According to Rynne (ibid.), original area of pond appears to have exploited steep slope of an adjacent river bluff as a boundary and the feeder stream (which was modified by having its original course re-directed) now flows into the River Funshion.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
