The National Monuments Service's description

Indicated on 1842 OS 6-inch map as circular area (diam. c. 30m) planted with trees; not shown on 1905 or 1935 OS 6-inch maps. Cropmark of fosse visible in aerial photograph (CASAP, July 1989); trace of outer fosse NW->SE and S->SW. Linear cropmark (E-W), probably a levelled field fence, crosses field tangential to inner fosse to N; W and S sides of possible annexe, also visible in aerial photograph, on S side of this fence and adjoining W side of enclosure.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
