The National Monuments Service's description
Grove White (1905-25, vol. 3, 250) recorded graveyard in grounds of Kilbyrne House where in the time of his ancestor, James Grove White (died 1866), 'some stones were still there, whether tomb stones or only the wall of the graveyard...He had the whole place levelled and the graveyard ploughed over. The workmen turned over a crock or pot with some coins in it.' Exact location not known, but stated to be 'at the S.E. corner of the pleasure grounds' on top of the 'oak tree field' (ibid., 240).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
