The National Monuments Service's description
Covered over and incorporated into Cork County Council water supply scheme; no longer visible. According to Grove White (1905-25, vol. 1, 140), OS Field Book of 1840 records 'Tubberhuwhen, Joanna's well' as holy well' though he adds that it is not locally known as a holy well now (ibid.).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
