The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture, on N-facing slope, below crest of hill. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure on 1842 OS 6-inch map; as hachured circular raised area on 1937 OS 6-inch map, with scarp to NE replaced by linear field boundary. Circular area (36m NE-SW; 36m NW-SE) defined by grass-covered scarp (H 0.9m) E->NNW; linear, heavily overgrown, low field boundary NNW->NE; enclosing element not visible NE->E due to overgrowth. Interior covered in tall grass and reeds similar to surrounding field. Bank and external fosse of circular enclosure visible as shadow site in aerial photograph (AP, Dr. D.D.C. Pochin Mould).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
