The National Monuments Service's description

Bowman (1934, 425) records levelled fort in D. Lenehan's in field called ''Poll Ratha'' and stated that 'it may be inferred from this name that a souterrain was in the fort...both the fort and the hole have disappeared'. Field located; according to local information hollow which once existed in field infilled; no local memory of fort.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
