The National Monuments Service's description
Towards SE corner of graveyard (14556). Sole visible remains of church is stump of walling backing a 19th-century headstone. Shown on 1842 OS 6-inch map as rectangular structure (c. 18m E-W; c. 6m N-S). Horgan, apparently writing in 1830s (Grove White 1905-25, vol. 3, 226-7), describes 'one side door...perfect...jambs well carved...arch equilateral, protected or relieved by a counter one.' OS Field Book of 1840 noted 'only a small portion of one of its side walls' remaining. Remains of parish church of Kilbrin; reported 'in repair' in 1615, abandoned by 1694 (Brady 1863, vol. 2, 115, 245). A church here listed in Papal Taxation of 1291 (ibid., 245).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
