The National Monuments Service's description

R. O Bruadair, in a letter to M.J. O'Kelly dated 1946, reported the site of a souterrain in James Forde's land in Ballyhoulihan [sic] townland (UCC). Exact location not known; not clear whether site is in Ballyhoolahan West or Middle. (McCarthy 1977, 333, Ballyhoulahan 1)

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
