The National Monuments Service's description
On W side of road. Rectangular graveyard (c. 190m N-S; c. 98m E-W) which has been much extended to W and N from earlier core at SE corner (c. 60m E-W; c. 30m N-S). Latter section enclosed by low earthen bank to N and W, by track to S and road to E; earliest headstone noted here dates to 1755; also contains several burial vaults and a few low uninscribed gravemarkers. This once contained parish church of Clonfert (14410) of which there is now no visible surface trace. In early 19th century burial area extended W to field boundary; earliest headstone noted in this section dates to 1829; two burial vaults and other headstones inserted into low bank which separates it from earlier area to E. Further extension of graveyard to N (by c. 33m) shown on 1904 OS 6-inch map; extension of c. 72m to top of field at E side of graveyard (40m E-W) shown on 1937 OS 6-inch map; rest of field incorporated subsequently and extended again more recently beyond N edge of field (c. 50m N-S).
