On S side of Quitrentmountain. One storey rectangular mill (long axis c. 20m E-W) of random-rubble sandstone construction. Overgrown wheel-pit (Wth 1.23m; D c. 2m; long axis N-S) alongside E wall; possibly housed a low breast shot/undershot waterwheel. Present N wall originally an internal wall in a larger structure which extended further N. Wide stone-arched opes in S wall. Probably reduced to present size when converted into farm buildings in 1950s (see below). On E side of wheel-pit is high wall with lintelled ope; this is the S end of W wall of a rectangular structure (long axis N-S) indicated 'in ruins' on 1903 OS 6-inch map; fragmentary remains of N end of this structure noted during site inspection have subsequently been removed. Millrace taken from mountain stream c. 300m to NW. Two-storey Quitrentmountain House immediately to E: mid-19th-century in appearance; recently renovated. Millstone (diam. 0.95m), used as door step at rear of house, is conglomerate bedstone and may have come from nearby millstone quarry (15256). According to local information, mills owned by O'Mahony family who built the house and operated site as a corn and woollen mill, but ceased operating in 1920s. According to local information, buildings were altered by Land Commission in 1958.
