The National Monuments Service's description
Layer of burnt material (L 5-6m; D 0.2m) visible in section of two adjacent forestry trenches, 10.6m apart; probably the remains of a single fulacht fiadh. The exposed layer lies in parallel trenches but is not in exact alignment; that in the more easterly trench is c. 2-3m to SE of that in the W trench. Possibly one of four fulachta fiadh recorded by Bowman (1934, 381) (see 15264). (O'Shaughnessy 1997)
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
