The National Monuments Service's description

In pasture, on W-facing slope. Circular, slightly raised area (41.6m E-W; 40.7m N-S) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.65m; ext. H 1.6m) with external fosse (D 0.3m). Bank very worn (int. H 0.2m) to SE and S. Break (Wth 2.1m) in bank to NNW; gaps worn through bank to NE, SSW and SW. Interior planted with coniferous trees. Bowman (1934, 629) recorded 'circular composite stone' now broken, with greater part used in drain and one quarter remaining in fort. Stone originally measured 'about 2 ft in diameter, and 7 inches in thickness' with 'circular hole (diameter about 21/2inches)' in centre (ibid.). Church site (CO015-161---) possibly in interior.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
