The National Monuments Service's description
In marshy ground, on W side of stream. Heavily overgrown mound of burnt material (c. 7m x c. 5m; H 1m). According to local information, some mound material was removed in the past and a pottery 'crock' found which was accidentally broken. Probably one of five fulachta fiadh (see 10226) recorded in townland by Bowman (1934, 711). Second fulacht fiadh (10224) 13m to N.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
