The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture, on E-facing slope, 400m N of River Allow. Depicted as hachured square enclosure on 1842 OS 6-inch map; as hachured pear-shaped enclosure on 1905 OS 6-inch map, incorporated into field fence system. Pear-shaped area (max. L 56.3m NW-SE; max. Wth 49.6m NE-SW) enclosed by earthen bank (H 1.5m), stone faced in parts; narrow internal fosse (D 0.3m) NW->WSW; external fosse (D 0.4m) SSE->NW and N->NNE. Gap (Wth 2.05m) in bank to SSE. Interior slopes down to E; in NW quadrant is rectangular area, raised 0.7m above remainder of interior, extending 14m into interior and measuring 28m in length; oval depression (D 0.4m; 8m x 5m) in SE quadrant. According to local information, tradition of burials in 'fort'.
