This possible enclosure was referred to in the The 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork - vol. 4 North Cork' (2000, 424) under the entry (no. 13761) for an enclosure (CO004-054002-). The reference to this feature in the entry reads: 'large roughly circular enclosure (diam. c. 100m) identified subsequent to visit in aerial photograph (GSIAP, R658); slightly truncated to S by field fence; W side cut by drain on N-S axis. The larger enclosure may be the 'fort' mentioned by Bowman (1934, 87) as a townland subdivision name, 'Cnoc na ratha - hill of the fort', though no fort was then known on the hill.'
