The National Monuments Service's description
Discovered in 1986 during construction of the Bruff-Mallow gas pipeline (Gowen 1988, 179). Oval pit (0.65m x 0.95m) filled with silty clay, abundant charcoal, and specks of cremated bone (pers. comm. M. Gowen).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
