The National Monuments Service's description
In graveyard (14614). Fragmentary remains of rectangular church (c. 25m E-W; c. 5.8m N-S). Short section of E wall stands; length of walling adjoining Lillis plot (L 2.5m) may be sole surviving portion of S wall. Short sections of N wall survive; these are low and mantled with ivy; two opes towards E end may be original, particularly that to W (Wth 1.8m). West gable stands to full height; recently upper edges straightened and given coping to form 'gable', which has steeper pitched than original; plain re-built ope high up on gable may be window but masked by ivy. Interior filled with grave plots. Remains of parish church of Rathgogin. Reported 'in ruins' in 1615 (Brady 1863, vol. 2, 375).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
