The National Monuments Service's description
In level pasture. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 60m) on 1842, 1905 and 1936 OS 6-inch maps; inner bank hachured to SW on 1905 and 1936 OS 6-inch maps. Site heavily overgrown with hawthorn bushes; interior inaccessible with enclosing elements only accessible in parts. Inner earthen bank (int. H 3.5m; ext. H 3.6m to base of fosse), intervening fosse and low outer earthen bank (ext. H 0.8m) visible to E and SE; only outer bank continues around to S; inner bank visible again to SW and W with inner fosse (D 0.45m) separating it from interior. Enclosure appears to be disturbed to N with numerous humps and hollows visible through the overgrowth which may be the result of quarrying.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
