The National Monuments Service's description
On the W bank of the River Owenagarney channel in the Shannon Estuary, c. 40m NE of Little Quay Island. Described by O’Sullivan (2001, 298) as medieval ‘post-and-wattle fences and brushwood structures representing at least four phases of reuse and reconstruction of V-shaped fishtraps on the steeply sloping estuarine clays. Rod radiocarbon-dated to 960 +/-20BP (cal. AD 1018-1159; GrN-21933). February 1997.’ (O’Sullivan 2001, 159-64, 298, Bunratty 4)
