The National Monuments Service's description

In Lough Gash turlough, immediately SW of Newmarket on Fergus and 3.6km E of the Fergus Estuary. Named ‘Monument’ on the 1951-2 edition of the OS 6-inch map. A circular area (diam. c. 18m) defined by a low stone wall with possible internal stone feature is visible on OSi MapGenie 2013-2018. The image was taken when the turlough was dry. On Digital Globe (2011-2013) it is visible as submerged all around. Carrigoran Castle (CL051-023----) lies c. 160m to the S on the edge of the turlough.
