Situated in the middle of the tidal Fergus Estuary, N of the archipelago of islands. Described by O’Sullivan et al. (2010) as follows: ‘Boarland Rock 14 was first discovered in September 2009. It consists of a single line of posts c. 4m in length. It runs roughly E-W. After 4m a line of postholes runs for c. 16m, extending the total length to c. 20m. Postholes indicated that posts were pulled from the structure for reuse elsewhere or to open up space. These postholes fill with sediment once the post is removed and differential erosion produces a posthole slightly raised from the surrounding muds.’ (O’Sullivan et al. 2010, Appendix 1, 43-4, Boarland Rock 14)
