The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on a shelf overlooking the N shore of Killone Lough and only accessible by foot from gates c. 1km to N and S at the edge of Newhall estate. A subrectangular graveyard (67m E-W; c. 66m N-S) defined by a masonry wall with the remains of Killone Abbey, an Augustinian nunnery (CL041-062001-) in the S half. The visible headstones are all 19th and 20th century in date although there are several 18th-century graves and medieval graveslabs within the abbey ruins.
