The National Monuments Service's description
On top of a knoll, in rough pasture, with land sloping down steeply to NW and NE. There are reasonable views of the surrounding landscape including mountains in the distance to E. This wedge tomb is not depicted on any of the OS historic mapping. It was identified during a survey carried out for the East Clare Community Co-Op, Scarriff (Paul Walsh OSi pers. comm., 1995). The monument consists of a raised, rectangular area (2.5m E-W; 2m N-S) enclosed by three prostrate stones set upright and defining the S side (L 1.55m; T 0.35m; H 0.6m), W side (L 1.5m; T 0.3m; H 0.8m) and N side (L 1.3m; T 0.25m; H 0.65m). The monument is open to E. The stones to S and N are slanting to S and that to W is slanting to W. Other components of the monument may be sod covered within the raised interior (H 0.5m). A large boulder (L 1.3m; T 0.9m; H 0.45m) is located c. 6m to NE and may have formed part of the monument. A substantial stone (L 1.9m; Wth 1.35m; T 0.6m) which is located on top of the field boundary, c. 34m to WSW, may also have formed part of the monument, potentially as a capstone, being of the same type of weathered limestone.
