The National Monuments Service's description
In the N wall of the nave of Ennis Friary (CL033-082001-) above a small round headed window. A limestone tablet (H 1.63m; Wth 0.79m; D 0.14m) with an inscription in Roman capitals in English and Latin commemorating Tiege O'Kerin of Glean, dated 1685. The inscription reads ‘HERE LIES THE BODY OF TIEGE O KERIN OF GLEAN WHO DYED THE 26 OF JANUARY IN THE YEAR 1685. THIS STONE WAS SET UP BY THADY KERIN SON TO THE SAID TIEGE. VIXISTI FAELIX MORIERE BEATIOR NUNC SPES TIBI VITA FUIT MORS TIBI MUNUS ERAT.’ The Latin portion translates as 'Thou hast lived happy, more happy to die, in such a hope, was life to you, death to you will be a gift' (translated by Fr. Senan Hedderman, O.F.M. 1991).(Westropp 1895, 36; Bradley, Halpin and King 1988, 75-6)
