The National Monuments Service's description
In a gentle basin, in very rough pasture and scrub with moderate views SE-SW and obscured by woodland to W and by forestry in the foreground N-SE. A substantial stone formation (L 4m E-W; 2.5m N-S; H 2.2m) consisting of four large stones arranged haphazardly and resting on two earthfast, moss-covered rocks (to E and W). The largest stone is substantial and occupies the western side of the formation. It rests on top of the western earthfast rock. Two short stones forming the eastern side rest on top of the eastern earthfast rock. They lean in toward the largest stone and rest on its eastern side. They appear to have derived from one stone which has fractured along a natural cleavage plane. An irregular megalith ‘caps’ the structure. The potential gallery area is limited in size and the two earthfast rocks forming the base of this feature would inhibit internment of burials. According to local information, this is referred to as the ‘big rock’. There is a lot of rock outcrop across this area and some unusual formations. It is uncertain if this is a manmade megalithic structure or if it is potentially an unusual example of post-glacial deposition.
