The National Monuments Service's description
On the W bank of a river flowing SW into Lough Atedaun, in grass-covered boggy ground which floods periodically. Indicated and named ‘Illaunattee’ on the OS 25-inch plan (1897) and the Cassini edition (1920) of the OS 6-inch map. Listed as ‘Potential site (name)’ in the RMP (1996). This subcircular area (diam. c. 35m) is free of scrub and trees compared to the surrounding ground and, according to local information, is more solid ground than its wet and boggy surrounds.
