The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture on a gentle S-facing slope. Marked and labelled ‘Kilranaghan’ on the first edition (1842) of the OS 6-inch map, and hachured and labelled ‘Kilranaghan Grave Yard’ on the later, Cassini edition (1916) of the map. O’Curry noted ‘a small burial place for children’ in this townland (Comber ed. 1997, 53). A burial ground lies within a subcircular earthen enclosure (CL017-104002-) which is itself enclosed by a later rectilinear enclosure defined by partially hedged, wall with an entrance on its S side. The burial ground contains c. 15 headstones dating from the 1920s. A memorial on the SE wall records that the burial ground was also used during the Great Famine. There is a bullaun stone (CL017-105----) c. 65m to the E and a rath stands c. 80m to the W (CL017-103----).
