The National Monuments Service's description

Breen and Ua Cróinín (2000, 5-9) noted that in the will of Murrough O’Brien, 1st Earl of Thomond, dated June 1551, the castle of Ballycasheen was left to his second son Teige. The precise location of the castle has not been identified. Breen and Ua Cróinín (ibid.) suggest that it may have been located in Cahermacon townland, within a possible bawn (CL016-144003-) where they have identified the remains of two possible late-medieval buildings (CL016-144001- and CL016-144002-).
