The National Monuments Service's description
Prominently sited (above the 700’ contour) NW of the summit (OD 721’) of a NE-SW ridge of exposed limestone and rough grazing, offering wide views in most directions, and within a relict field system (CL006-164----). Listed as ‘Barrow’ in the RMP (1996) on the basis of a map annotation by Tom Coffey (see also Coffey 1996, 57). This subcircular ring-cairn (16m N-S; 14m E-W) comprises a central cairn enclosed by a fosse and an outer bank. The subcircular central cairn (7m N-S; c. 6.5m E-W; H 1.1-1.3m) is compact, with some of the stones on its surface showing traces of burning. The fosse is well preserved ESE-S (Wth of base 0.8-0.95m) but elsewhere is mostly filled by stone tumble from the cairn. A grass-covered causeway (Wth 2.2m) crosses the fosse NE. The broad outer bank (Wth 3.2-4m; int. H 0.25-0.4m; ext. H 0.7-1.3m) of loose stones has totally collapsed along the W side. A later wall is built on top of the bank around most of its circuit.
