The National Monuments Service's description
On high ground (on the 400’ contour) with commanding views over lower ground to N and W and overlooked by a ridge of higher ground to the SE and S. Indicated on the first edition (1840) and hachured on the later, Cassini edition (1916) of the OS 6-inch map. Listed as ‘Enclosure’ in the RMP (1996).
An oval area (int. diams. 33m NNW-SE; 26m ENE-WSW) is defined by an inner earthen bank (Wth 2-2.5m at ESE; ext. H 0.8-1.3m), a flat based fosse (Wth 2.2m at base) and by a second, outer bank at NNW (Wth 2.1m; int. H 0.5-0.6m; ext. H 0.6-0.9m). The inner bank is levelled at NNW (Wth 1.5m; ext. H 0.6m) and scarped internally along W where it is lower (D 0.5m) than outer ground level. A gap at ENE may be a later cattle gap. There is a steep drop (H c. 2m) to outer ground level from ESE-SSE. The interior is level. The interior is level and is crossed (NW-SE) by a later field bank.
