The National Monuments Service's description

In a slight sheltered depression surrounded by higher ground on all sides except W and NW and within an extensive multiperiod field system (CL009-084001-). Hachured on the 1840 and 1916 eds. of the OS 6-inch maps. Listed as ‘cashel’ in the RMP (1996). Described by Westropp (1898, 361) as one of two ‘uninjured cahers’.

A subcircular ring-barrow (30.5m NNE-SSW; 26m WNW-ESE) with a roughly circular central mound (15m NNE-SSW; 14.6m WNW-ESE) which is poorly preserved from S to NW and is defined by a fosse (Wth 2.6-3.6m; ext. H 0.55-0.9m; int. H 0.4-0.6m) and a bank (Wth 2.4-5.2m; int. H 0.55-0.9m; ext. H 0.3-0.9m). The fosse has displaced rocks from the bank at its flat base and the bank has been considerably disturbed by rabbit burrows. The bank contains occasional boulders and has been disturbed by cattle at N where a mixture of clay, gravel and stone has been exposed. A later gap (Wth 4.8m) has been cut into the bank at S. The bank (Wth 5m; int. H 1m; ext. H 1.1m) is best preserved to the E of this gap and is poorly preserved from WSW-WNW.
