The National Monuments Service's description

In reclaimed pasture at the E end of a ridge named Knockacarn; the land slopes to the SW and there are wide views from E to S to W. Not indicated on the 1842 edition of the OS 6-inch map but a trigonometrical point here is labelled ‘Kiltennan Fort’ (see CL009-099002-). Hachured and labelled ‘Carn’ on the 1897 OS 25-inch plan and 1920 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. This grass-covered round-topped subcircular cairn (18.2m E-W; 15.9m N-S; H 2.1-2.5m) is composed of earth and stone. There is a slight hollow just to the SE of the summit. It is regular in outline but is steeper near the base (H 0.7-1m) from N to E to S, where it may have been cut back. At N the base has quite a straight edge (L 7.5m) running E-W. Two raths (CL009-099002- and CL009-099003-) lie c. 12m to the E and c. 80m to the ENE respectively.
