The National Monuments Service's description
On a W-facing slope in rough pasture within a large multiperiod field system (CL009-059001-). Hachured on the OS 25-inch plan (1897) and 1920 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. Described by Westropp (1915, 265) as a ‘nearly levelled cathair’ coarsely built of large blocks.
This almost circular cashel (ext. dims. 29.5m N-S; 28.4m E-W) is defined by a stone spread (Wth 9-11m) but traces of the much-denuded remains of the double-faced stone wall (Wth c. 2-2.2m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.6-1.3m) survive. The inner wall-face is evident at N and E and the outer wall-face survives from ENE to SW, usually as a single course of large stones laid horizontally. At N a step of rock outcrop (H c. 0.4m) has been incorporated into the line of the wall. A drystone wall (H 1.2-1.3m; Wth 0.6m) overlies it from WSW to N. A large relatively modern gap (Wth 7.5m) between NNE and ENE allows access to the road to E. Another cashel (CL009-059070-) lies c. 45m to the SSW and a wedge tomb (CL009-059072-) lies c. 85m to the N.
