The National Monuments Service's description

Located within the ruins of a medieval church (CL009-028002-), this rectangular font (L 0.66m; Wth 0.6m; H 0.39m) is set on a flat-topped stone (L 0.51m; Wth 0.51m; visible H 0.06m) protruding from the ground. Swinfen (1992, 36) described it as ‘a plain, late font, cut from a single stone’. The top of the rim is flat. In profile the upper sides (H 0.09m; T 0.08m) are vertical, under which they slope inward, before returning vertical in the lower portion (H 0.08m). Due to the inward slope of the sides, the base of the font is smaller in area (L 0.24m; Wth 0.24m) than the top. On the interior (L 0.57m; Wth c. 0.52m) the upper sides also have a vertical upper section, beneath which they slope down to a central aperture (diam. 0.1m) in the base.
