The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture and partly overlain by a modern NE-SW road. Identified in 1999 by Ken Hanley during monitoring of pipe works on the Lisdoonvarna Water Supply Scheme (Licence No. 99E0199). This fulacht fia (est. L 8.5m; Wth 8m; H 0.2-0.5m) is visible as a low kidney-shaped mound in the field to the N of the road. A limited portion (L 1-2m; Wth c. 0.5m) of the continuation of the mound to the S was exposed during monitoring and was excavated (Hanley 2000). It comprised a thin layer (T 0.02-0.1m) of dark, heat-shattered stones overlying natural subsoil, and covered by road bedding (T 0.4-0.5m) (ibid.).
