The National Monuments Service's description

Under trees in an area of improved pasture in Ballyvaughan valley. Indicated on the 1840 ed. of the OS 6-inch map and hachured with the addition of a ‘Cave’ marked within it on the 1916 ed. It was listed as an ‘enclosure’ in the RMP (1996). Westropp (1901, 280) described it as ‘a small levelled fort with a souterrain’.
A heavily overgrown roughly circular rath (est. diam. c. 40m) defined to the E by a substantial bank of earth and stone (Wth 5m; int. H 1.2m; ext. H 2.4m) with some external facing, but at SSW and SW by a much lower bank (H 0.8m). Elsewhere it is inaccessible because of overgrowth. There is a possible entrance (Wth 2m) at ESE, lined on its W side by a holed orthostat (L 1.4m; H 0.7m). A souterrain (CL005-044002-) lies in the W sector.
