The National Monuments Service's description

On slightly elevated land and at the juncture of two roads in Ballyvaughan valley. Hachured on the 1840 and 1916 eds. of the OS 6-inch map. List as ‘Enclosure’ in the RMP (1996). A partially destroyed rath (est. diam. c. 30m) defined from NNE to ENE by an earthen bank (Wth 4m; H 0.5m) and from W to NNE by a scarp (H 0.8m). From E to SW road construction has probably removed its enclosing elements and from SW to W it is too overgrown to examine. There is a slight circular hollow (diam. 2.5m) W of centre but no definite evidence of a souterrain. A paved trackway skirts the external perimeter from NW to NE, and there are steps and a shed immediately outside the E sector. Another rath (CL005-043----) is located c. 130m to the N.
